Dr. Lee Gilman is an Assistant Professor in Kent State University's Department of Psychological Sciences. His lab investigates how unhealthy diets and environmental stress trigger maladaptive behavioral changes, with emphases on neuroactive hormones, brain reward circuits, and comorbid psychiatric/metabolic conditions. He teaches Biopsychology, Neuroscience II, and Neuropsychopharmacology.
Current research explores sex-specific effects of salt intake on fear generalization (2023), PMAT transporter roles in addiction (2021), and stress-salt interactions in hypertension models. Methodologies include genetic knockout models, behavioral assays, and neurochemical analysis. Dr. Gilman mentors doctoral students in Behavioral Neuroscience and actively publishes on dopamine/serotonin dynamics.
