- Elected Fellow, American Association for the Advancement of Science
Dr. Gettler leads international research examining how economic transitions affect family dynamics and children's physiological responses. His laboratory work integrates evolutionary theory with social science approaches to understand how cultural norms and political economic forces shape human biology. He collaborates with Dr. Rahul Oka on refugee community studies in Kenya and Serbia, and previously worked with Dr. James McKenna on mother-infant sleep research where they developed the concept of 'breastsleeping.'
