Professor Lech Majewski is a distinguished faculty member at the Faculty of Graphic Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. He serves as President of the International Poster Biennale in Warsaw, an institution he has organized since 1990. His work spans multiple continents with collaborations at institutions worldwide including the Munich City Museum in Germany where he created visual identities and relaunched art albums.
Majewski specializes in graphic design with a primary focus on poster design, though his work extends to illustration, book design, publishing graphics, advertising graphics, and music composition. His artistic philosophy centers on the belief that while posters don't change the world, they serve as excellent records of places, times, and events. His distinctive style has evolved from painted posters in the 1970s to black-and-white graphics, and more recently to contemporary street aesthetics.
Among his numerous international accolades, his poster for the 16th International Meeting of Jazz Vocalists in Zamość was selected as one of the 100 most important posters created in Europe and the United States between 1945 and 1990. He has held solo exhibitions globally and participated in prestigious art events worldwide. His book designs in Poland and Germany have frequently been named among the most beautiful publications of the year.
