Professor Leanne McCormick, currently at Ulster University’s School of Arts & Humanities, is a leading academic in women’s history, sexuality, and medicine. She directs the Centre for the History of Medicine in Ireland (CHOMI) and co-created the AHRC-funded 'Bad Bridget' project. Her work spans publications, podcasts, and public exhibitions.
Her research focuses on 20th-century Irish women's experiences, including migration, criminality, and reproductive control. Key projects include the Department of Health-commissioned report on Mother and Baby Homes and the AHRC-funded 'Queer Northern Ireland' initiative.
Recent work trends include interdisciplinary studies at the intersection of gender, law, and social policy, with peer-reviewed articles in journals like Irish Historical Studies and contributions to edited volumes. Her research also explores historical narratives of marginalized communities.
