Leah Jeunnette

Leah Jeunnette, PhD, serves as Associate Director of Education for Bioethics and Medical Humanities, Director of the MA in Bioethics and Medical Humanities Program, Senior Research Associate 2, and Adjunct Instructor in the Department of Bioethics at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. She concurrently holds a clinical ethics position at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center, demonstrating dual expertise in academic leadership and frontline ethics consultation.

Her educational trajectory includes a PhD in Healthcare Ethics from Duquesne University, a Master of Arts in Bioethics from Case Western Reserve University, and a BS in Biology from Youngstown State University, establishing a robust foundation for integrating scientific and ethical frameworks in healthcare education.

Dr. Jeunnette's research focuses on clinical ethics implementation, with specialized contributions to adolescent ethics and innovative ethics pedagogy. She has developed interprofessional ethics simulations for medical, dental, and pharmacy schools, alongside publications examining clinical ethics consultation dynamics and student experiences in unconventional settings like county jails. Her work bridges theoretical bioethics with practical healthcare delivery through customized curricula for hospital ethics committees.

In educational leadership, she coordinates foundational MA program courses (BETH 401, BETH 402, BETH 422) and directs Clinical Ethics Rotations (BETH 405) and the Physician Assistant program's Ethics in Health Care Delivery course (PAST 406). Since joining the Department of Bioethics in 2016—initially as MetroHealth's primary clinical ethicist—she expanded the MA program and study abroad offerings after transitioning to the education team in 2018, culminating in her 2023 appointment as MA program Director.
