Leah Grant is a Researcher in the Department of Atmospheric Science at Colorado State University (CSU). Her research focuses on cloud and convective processes, including cold pool dynamics, aerosol interactions, and tropical convection. She earned her BSc from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and her MSc and PhD from CSU. Grant has led field campaigns such as C³LOUD-Ex and contributed to the NASA INCUS Mission. Her work bridges observational studies and numerical modeling to understand atmospheric processes.
- Education: PhD (2018), MSc (2014), BSc (2011), all in Atmospheric Science.
- Affiliations: Cloud Processes Group, CMMAP, RAMS Model Development.
Key research areas include cold pool-land surface interactions, tropical convective organization, and aerosol transport. She has received numerous awards, including the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship and the CSU Alumni Award for Outstanding Ph.D. Research. Grant mentors students and teaches graduate courses like Cloud Microphysics and Atmospheric Dynamics. Her field experience includes project management in convective storm observation campaigns.
Awards:
- NSF Graduate Research Fellowship (2012)
- AMS Graduate Fellowship (2011)
- Early Career Travel Grant (2016)
Grants & Fieldwork: Led C³LOUD-Ex (2016–2017), contributed to CAMP2Ex, and collaborated with international researchers via the INCUS Mission. Focuses on advancing observational techniques using drones and remote sensing.
