Lea Frank is a Doctoral Research Fellow at the University of Oslo (UiO), affiliated with the Department of Biosciences and the Centre for Ecological and Evolutionary Synthesis (CEES). She is a member of the Archaeogenomics group and part of the SaveCave project, which investigates cave ecosystems and human-environment interactions in northern Fennoscandia. Her research focuses on combining bioscientific methods with archaeology to study prehistoric human-animal-environment entanglement, climate change, and biodiversity preservation.
Lea holds two Master's degrees: one in (Bio-)Archaeology and another in Egyptology, obtained from the University of Vienna, University College London, and Uppsala University. Her PhD work involves osteological and ancient DNA (aDNA) analysis of zooarchaeological remains and sediments.
Her research interests include Archaeology, Zooarchaeology, Ancient DNA, Archaeogenomics, and Network Analysis, with a particular emphasis on Nordic regions. She explores interdisciplinary approaches to understand historical ecological dynamics and sustainable practices.
Lea contributes to the SaveCave project, aiming to preserve high-latitude cave archives and enhance knowledge of Holocene biodiversity and human interactions. She is associated with the Archaeogenomics research group at CEES.
