Lea Augenstein is a Researcher in the Department of International Relations/Peace and Conflict Studies at the University of Tübingen, Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences. She has served as an editor for the Journal of International Relations (ZIB) since December 2019. Her academic background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Public Law, and a Master of Arts in Peace Studies and International Politics from the University of Tübingen, with a semester abroad at the University of Bologna.
- Doctoral project analyzing immigrant resistance practices at European borders
- Application of postcolonial theories to EU border dynamics
- Focus on transnational negotiation spaces and identity reconfiguration
Research Interests include European migration policy, poststructuralist/postcolonial theoretical frameworks, critical security studies, and global justice theories. Her 2019 GLOBUS Report publication critiques global justice paradigms through postcolonial lenses.
Scientific Award:
- Susan Strange Young Scholar Award (2020) for outstanding female graduate research in International Relations
