LeAnn Brown is a Professor of the Practice in the Department of City and Regional Planning at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She holds a B.A. (1977), M.S. (1981), and J.D. (1984) from UNC. With over 35 years of legal practice, she specializes in zoning, land use, eminent domain, and employment law. Certified as a mediator since 1992, she has served in leadership roles including President of the North Carolina Bar Association (2019–2020) and Trustee of its Client Security Fund (2010–2015).
Her research interests focus on the intersection of law and urban planning, emphasizing regulatory frameworks for sustainable development and dispute resolution mechanisms. She teaches PLAN724 (Law for Planners) and advises on legal challenges in land use policy.
