معرفی
Lawrence William Honaker is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Experimental Soft Matter Physics Group led by Professor Jan Lagerwall at the University of Luxembourg's Faculty of Science, Technology and Medicine. Funded by a Marie Sklodowska-Curie Action Postdoctoral Fellowship (TECHSTILE), he conducts cutting-edge research at the intersection of physics and materials science.
Education:
- Ph.D. in Physics, University of Luxembourg (2019)
- M.S. in Chemical Physics, Kent State University (2014)
- A.B. in Physics, Ripon College (2011)
His research centers on liquid crystal-based sensing technologies, functional fiber systems, and supramolecular self-assembly. Key projects include developing liquid crystal-embedded fibers for sensor applications and liquid armor technologies, alongside fundamental studies of supramolecular complex behavior. His work bridges soft matter physics with practical materials engineering.
Scientific Awards:
- Marie Sklodowska-Curie Action Postdoctoral Fellowship, European Commission (2024)
- Best Young Researcher Award, German Liquid Crystal Society (2018)
- Aide à la formation–recherche Ph.D. grant, Luxembourg National Research Fund (2015)
Honaker has supervised 11 B.Sc. and M.Sc. theses across University of Luxembourg and Wageningen University, plus three NSF-funded summer projects. He teaches advanced courses including General Chemistry, Thermodynamics, Electricity and Magnetism, and Soft Matter Physics at undergraduate and graduate levels, demonstrating strong pedagogical commitment alongside research.
He actively contributes to the Experimental Soft Matter Physics Group's collaborative ecosystem and participates in Luxembourg National Research Fund outreach programs including Chercheurs à l'école and Science Festival, enhancing public engagement with materials science.
