Lawrence Udell serves as Founder and Chairman of the California Invention Center, a non-profit organization established at California State University in 1995 with federal funding. He holds the academic rank of Professor and has taught New Ventures courses for over 40 years across U.S. universities and internationally through WIPO (United Nations). Additional key affiliations include Vice President of American Innovators for Patent Reform and Senior Consultant to General Patent Corporation.
His expertise spans Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Intellectual Property, with decades of practical experience launching 30+ new ventures and developing specialized inventor education programs for the USPTO. Udell has mentored thousands of inventors through startup incubation and collaborated with luminaries including Stephen Hawking, Bill Lear, and Paul MacCready.
As founder of the Silicon Valley Chapter of the Licensing Executives Society (2000) and a frequent lecturer at corporate/government functions, he bridges academic theory with real-world commercialization. His career integrates patent reform advocacy, Fortune 500 consulting, and hands-on venture creation while maintaining active university teaching engagements.
