معرفی
Lawrence Smart is a Professor in the Horticulture Section of the School of Integrative Plant Science at Cornell University since 2009. Previously, he served as an Assistant and Associate Professor at the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry from 1996 to 2009.
- Education:
- Ph.D. in Genetics from Michigan State University (1992)
- Bachelor of Science from Cornell University (1987)
- NSF Postdoctoral Fellow at University of California-Davis (1996)
Lawrence Smart's research focuses on plant genetics, sex determination in willows, biomass energy crops, and hemp breeding. His work spans molecular biology, genomics, and agronomic applications.
Recent research highlights include the evolution of ZW sex chromosomes in willows, genetic mapping of flowering traits in hemp, and functional analysis of protein isolates from hemp seeds. His publications emphasize genomic insights into shrub willow hybrids and their environmental adaptability.
- Scientific Awards:
- NSF Postdoctoral Fellow (1996)
Lawrence Smart has supervised numerous studies in plant genetics and bioenergy, with co-authors across multiple institutions. His work contributes to the understanding of plant sex chromosomes and sustainable crop development.
