Laurent Villard

Laurent Villard is a Full Professor at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) in the School of Basic Sciences and Department of Physics. He specializes in plasma physics and nuclear fusion research, focusing on instabilities caused by energetic particles in tokamaks, equilibrium and stability calculations for plasma configurations, and high-performance computing simulations for magnetized plasma turbulence.

His research collaborations include Joint European Torus (JET), General Atomics (USA), Keldysh Institute (Moscow), and Max-Planck Institute for Plasma Physics. He has supervised multiple PhD theses in plasma physics and fusion energy.
