معرفی
Laurent Essioux and Hervé Ménager co-lead the Bioinformatics and Biostatistics Hub at Institut Pasteur, providing computational biology support to the institute's research units and platforms. The Hub is structured into five specialized centers: AIM (AI and Mathematical Modeling), FUNOMICA (Functional and OMICs Analysis), PAGE (Phylogeny, Algorithms, Genomics, Evolution), STATS (Statistics), and WISPR (Web Integration, Scientific Programming and Reproducibility).
Their research spans multiple computational biology domains including:
- Bioinformatics methodologies and biostatistics
- Machine learning applications in biological data analysis
- Genomic and metagenomic data processing
- Statistical experimental design
- Development of specialized bioinformatics software tools
The Hub offers three-tiered support: free assistance for projects under 3 months, subsidized support (3k€/month) for longer strategic projects, and potential staff detachment for extended collaborations. They maintain an open desk every Tuesday morning for direct researcher support and have developed numerous software tools including ToolDog, Bioconvert, and SHADE.
Both leaders actively participate in educational initiatives, teaching PhD courses in bioinformatics and biostatistics through the institute's training programs. Their work facilitates cutting-edge research across the Institut Pasteur by bridging computational methods with biological discovery.
