Lauren S. Ingraham

Lauren S. Ingraham is a Professor in the Department of English at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Her academic career spans over two decades, with a focus on writing pedagogy, secondary-college transitions, and the role of writing in philanthropy and university education.

• PhD in English/Rhetoric & Composition from University of Louisville (1998)
• MA and BA in English from University of Mississippi (1992, 1989)

Her research interests include Secondary-College Transitions, Writing Teacher Development, and Assessment of Writing, particularly through high-impact practices and experiential learning. Recent publications include The Writer’s Loop: A Guide to College Writing (2020), co-authored with Jeanne Bohannon.

In-progress work examines Best Practices for Internship Programs in English Departments (with Lara Smith-Sitton, Kennesaw State University). She has chaired UTC’s Reimagining General Education Committee and serves on multiple institutional task forces.
