Lauren Potter is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at Heriot-Watt University, School of Social Sciences. She holds academic roles including Global Course Leader for Research Methods and Analysis and Edinburgh Course Leader for Cognition across the Lifespan. Her expertise spans aging, perceptuo-motor control, and interventions for healthy aging. She has been recognized with awards such as the Watt Club Medal (2001), Chartered Psychologist (2008), and the 2023 Highly Commended Teacher Award.
Education: First Class Honours in Applied Psychology (Heriot-Watt, 2001), EPSRC-funded PhD (Strathclyde University, 2005) focusing on aging and everyday tasks. Professional memberships include the British Psychological Society and Higher Education Academy.
Research Interests: Aging-related perceptuo-motor control, age stereotypes, workplace challenges for older adults, and mental health promotion. Over 100 supervised honors projects and 30+ master’s projects. Current PhD supervision includes studies on healthy aging interventions.
Teaching Awards: Multiple nominations for 'Most Supportive Member of Staff' (2023–2025) and 'Innovation in Teaching Award' (2025). Administrative roles include Year 2 Coordinator and Global Research Methods Working Group Lead.
