Lauren P. Wallner

Lauren P. Wallner, PhD, MPH is an Associate Professor of Internal Medicine at the University of Michigan Medical School and holds a joint appointment in Epidemiology at the School of Public Health. She serves as Assistant Division Chief for Faculty Development and Mentoring in General Medicine and Co-leader of the Cancer Control and Population Sciences Program at Rogel Cancer Center. She is a core faculty member in the Cancer Surveillance and Outcomes Research Team (CanSORT) and Institute for Healthcare Policy and Innovation.

Her research focuses on improving the quality, delivery, and equity of cancer care across multiple cancer sites. Key areas include cancer survivorship coordination, health services utilization, aging populations, and implementation of care delivery interventions. She specializes in large database analyses, population-based surveys, and intervention design.

Dr. Wallner's recent publications (2023-2025) demonstrate strong emphasis on oncology health services research, particularly in breast/prostate cancer survivorship, end-of-life care disparities, treatment decision-making, and cross-cultural barriers in cancer prevention. Methodological themes include mixed-methods approaches, population-level trend analyses, and implementation science.

She maintains active funding from the National Institutes of Health, American Cancer Society, and industry partners. She leads mentoring initiatives for health services researchers and contributes to multiple cross-disciplinary research teams including the AI and Digital Health Innovation center.
