Lauren M. Denneson

Lauren M. Denneson is a Professor of Psychiatry at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) and holds dual roles as Associate Director and Core Investigator at the VA Portland Health Care System’s Center to Improve Veteran Involvement in Care. She is also affiliated with the VA Suicide Prevention Research Impact Network. Her work focuses on advancing suicide prevention strategies, particularly for women Veterans and post-deployment populations, while addressing social determinants of health and patient-centered care practices.

Dr. Denneson earned her BA in Psychology from the University of Minnesota, followed by an MS (2006) and PhD (2009) in Applied Social Psychology from Portland State University. Methodologically, she specializes in qualitative analysis, survey design, mixed-methods research, and clinical trials.

Her research bridges social psychology and public health, emphasizing translational approaches to improve healthcare systems and reduce health disparities among Veterans. Current projects prioritize collaborative, Veteran-inclusive strategies to enhance care delivery and prevent adverse outcomes.
