Lauren Hallal is an Affiliated Faculty member in the Department of Performing Arts at Emerson College since 2017. She developed and teaches Alexander Technique courses for BFA Acting students and Emerson's pre-college program. Additionally, she instructs at the Alexander Technique Training Center (ATTC), where she teaches anatomy to aspiring Alexander Technique teachers. Lauren holds a BFA in Acting from Syracuse University.
Her expertise centers on the Alexander Technique, a method optimizing body use to replace poor physical habits. Applications include chronic pain relief, stress reduction, and performance enhancement in theater, dance, music, and public speaking. She integrates anatomy education with movement pedagogy to improve performers' physical awareness and technique.
Lauren maintains a private practice in Newton, Massachusetts, offering individualized sessions for chronic pain and body-use optimization. She is also a longtime company member of Beau Jest Moving Theater (since 1992), contributing as an actor and deviser in productions featured at festivals like Piccolo Spoleto and Tennessee Williams Theater Festival.
