Lauren Gerlowski serves as a Visiting Instructor in the Department of Geography at Macalester College, with office location in Carnegie Hall Room 110. She utilizes she/her/hers pronouns and maintains active roles in both teaching and academic research.
Her research centers on urban geography, specifically examining how neoliberal economic policies impact dancers, dance culture, and urban spaces in Chicago through frameworks of feminist political economy and cultural industries. Gerlowski's pedagogical approach emphasizes student empowerment, active learning, and critical engagement with global issues while fostering joy in the educational process.
Gerlowski has received significant recognition for her teaching excellence, including departmental and university-wide awards from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She completed the NSF-funded Delta Certificate program through UW-Madison's Center for Integrated Teaching, Research, and Learning in August 2024.
