Dr Lauren Carters-White is a Lecturer in Public Health at the University of Stirling and Deputy Programme Director of the Master of Public Health (online). She teaches across undergraduate and postgraduate health-related programs and contributes to the Faculty of Health and Sport Sciences. Her research focuses on Commercial Determinants of Health (CDoH), particularly food and alcohol policy, using qualitative methods including interviews, focus groups, and documentary analysis. She is a core member of the UK Prevention Research Partnership-funded SPECTRUM Consortium, investigating CDoH in alcohol, tobacco, and food sectors.
Education:
- PhD in Social and Public Health (University of Glasgow, 2020)
- MRC Transition Fellowship (2019–2020) examining media framing of unhealthy product sponsorships
Research Interests:
Her work explores policy acceptability, public engagement, and power dynamics in health policy debates. She investigates how industries influence policy framing and how deliberative methods can improve policy design. Recent themes include public perceptions of alcohol advertising restrictions and the ethics of corporate sponsorship in sports.

- Principal investigator in SPECTRUM (2019–2024), a £ multi-university initiative
- Recipient of MRC funding for media analysis projects

Active in the SPECTRUM Consortium, collaborating with 10 universities and policy partners to address commercial health determinants.
