Lauren Cardenás is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Art/Printmaking at Louisiana State University's College of Art & Design. She holds a BA from Southwestern University and an MFA from Washington University in St. Louis, with a focus in print media. Her work explores Mexican American identity through print media, questioning the connotations of everyday objects.
Key initiatives include founding PIECRUST Magazine (2011-2014), co-founding Museum Blue (2014-2017), and collaborating on the artist book Things You See in the Dark with Daniel Enrique Perez. She has curated exhibitions bridging art and literature and contributed to the St. Louis Small Press Expo steering committee (2014-2016). Awards include the Black Rock Press Redfield Fellowship (2016-2018).
Her professional activities include gallery committee roles at Holland Project (2017-2018) and extensive curatorial/publishing work. Research interests span printmaking, identity exploration, and interdisciplinary art-literature collaborations.
