Laurel N. Bidwell is an Associate Professor and BSW Program Director in the Social Work department at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs (UCCS). With a Master of Social Work from Hunter College (1994) and a Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology from Columbia University (2006), she brings extensive experience in clinical social work and evaluation research.
- Previous roles include postdoctoral fellow at York University, Research Associate at the University of Minnesota, and full-time faculty at St. Catherine University.
- Her expertise spans child welfare, juvenile justice, and community-based research methodologies.
Dr. Bidwell co-authored the book Mixed Methods Research for Social Work (Oxford University Press), emphasizing her commitment to methodological innovation. Her current focus includes systems change, resilience, and anti-racist pedagogy.
She collaborates with community and university organizations to evaluate services for children and families, contributing to public safety initiatives through the College of Public Service. Dr. Bidwell joined UCCS in Fall 2022 and maintains office hours by appointment.
