Laurel Grinnell-Wilson is a Lecturer at San Diego State University (SDSU) and Director of the SDSU Javanese Gamelan Ensemble. She teaches M345 (World Music in Contemporary Life) and specializes in ethnomusicology, focusing on Javanese gamelan, West African drumming, and Zimbabwean mbira. She holds an MA in Ethnomusicology from SDSU and a BA in Jazz Performance Studies from Sonoma State University with distinction on drum set.
