Laure Flapan is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics at Michigan State University, located in Wells Hall D317. Her research focuses on algebraic geometry, particularly Hodge theory and algebraic cycles, exploring connections between cohomology and the geometry, topology, and arithmetic of algebraic varieties.
She received her PhD in 2017 from UCLA under Burt Totaro, followed by postdoctoral roles as an NSF Fellow at MIT and Northeastern University. Her work is supported by NSF grant DMS-2200800.
- Recent/upcoming engagements include the Western Algebraic Geometry Symposium (2024), Moduli of K-trivial varieties (2025), and the AMS Sectional Meetings (2025).
- Active in the MSU Algebra Seminar, held Wednesdays at 3pm EST.
