Laurance G. Beauvais is an Associate Professor of Chemistry at Point Loma Nazarene University, where he has taught since 2013. His career includes prior roles as an Assistant Professor at San Diego State University (2006-2013), a Postdoctoral Associate at MIT (2002-2006), and graduate/undergraduate research positions at UC Berkeley and University of Houston. He advises students pursuing graduate studies and teaches courses ranging from general chemistry to advanced inorganic chemistry and environmental chemistry.
Beauvais’ research focuses on inorganic chemistry, materials science, and solid-state physics, with a primary emphasis on synthesizing novel materials and their structural characterization. His work includes studies on metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), Prussian Blue analogues, and high-temperature superconductors. The 15 most recent publications highlight his contributions to developing porous materials, reactive metal sites in frameworks, and understanding enzymatic oxidation mechanisms.
Scientific awards include the Mortar Board Award for Outstanding Faculty and Staff at SDSU (2007-2008) and a National Cancer Institute Cancer Training Grant during his postdoctoral training (2002-2005). His research bridges inorganic and materials chemistry with practical applications in catalysis, sensing, and superconductivity.
