LauraEllen Ashcraft, PhD, MSW is an Assistant Professor of Epidemiology at the Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania, and holds affiliations with the VA Center for Health Equity Research and Promotion (CHERP), Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics, and Penn Implementation Science Institute. She serves as Associate Director of CHERP's Dissemination & Implementation Science Core and Research Specialist at the Corporal Michael J. Crescenz VA Medical Center. Her research focuses on advancing implementation science methodologies to address health equity and improve healthcare delivery systems.
Education includes a BASW from Millersville University (2012), MSW from University of Pittsburgh (2013), and PhD in Social Work (2021) with a focus on implementation science in chronic pain management. She has led NIH- and VA-funded projects including hybrid effectiveness-implementation trials and systematic reviews on policy dissemination strategies.
Research interests emphasize implementation science theory, health equity, social determinants of health, and safer aging interventions. Key contributions include developing novel methods for measuring implementer concordance, evaluating age-friendly healthcare systems in the VA, and advancing environmental justice frameworks through implementation science.
Her work spans multiple funded initiatives including QUERI projects and collaborations with interdisciplinary teams. Current projects involve optimizing functional status screening in primary care and designing evidence-based practices for older adult populations.
