Laura Westengard is Professor of English and Coordinator of Gender & Sexuality Studies at City Tech, CUNY. Her research explores intersections of gothic aesthetics, queer theory, and trauma studies.
Scholarship examines how marginalized communities adopt gothic tropes to articulate experiences of insidious trauma and systemic violence. Current research investigates medical archives to trace historical influences on contemporary queer cultural production.
