Dr. Laura Tsu serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice within the School of Pharmacy at Chapman University. Additionally, she practices as a clinical pharmacist in the medical intensive care unit at Harbor UCLA Medical Center, where she precepts pharmacy students during interdisciplinary rounds.
Her academic credentials include a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from the University of California, Irvine, and a Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of California, San Diego School of Pharmacy. She completed postgraduate training with a PGY1 acute care residency and a PGY2 cardiology residency at the University of California Davis Medical Center. Dr. Tsu maintains board certifications as a Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS), Geriatric Pharmacist (BCGP), and Cardiology Pharmacist (BCCP).
Dr. Tsu's research program centers on cardiovascular pharmacotherapy for elderly populations, with dual specialization in geriatric cardiology and anticoagulation management within acute care settings. Her expertise spans complex medication optimization for older adults with cardiovascular conditions, including heart failure, atrial fibrillation, and thromboembolic disorders. Current investigations focus on anticoagulant safety in geriatric oncology patients, SGLT2 inhibitor applications in heart failure, and hyperlipidemia management in frail elderly populations.
Scholarly contributions demonstrate consistent thematic focus across cardiology, geriatrics, and anticoagulation therapeutics. Recent publications reveal growing emphasis on interprofessional education methodologies and evidence-based approaches to complex polypharmacy scenarios in aging patients. Her work bridges clinical practice with academic instruction through case-based learning resources.
As an educator, Dr. Tsu actively mentors pharmacy students during clinical rotations at Harbor UCLA Medical Center, emphasizing evidence-based decision-making in critical care cardiology. Her teaching philosophy integrates board certification standards with real-world geriatric pharmacotherapy challenges.
Dr. Tsu contributes to healthcare delivery through direct patient care in the medical intensive care unit, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to optimize anticoagulation regimens and cardiovascular medication therapy for high-risk elderly patients.
