Laura Seery Lenn is a Distinguished Lecturer in the Department of Finance at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where she has served since 2009. She directs the Masters Investment Learning Center (Masters ILC), a leading financial education hub with 20 Bloomberg terminals. Her roles include teaching courses in research methodology (SAS/Stata), finance, and investments across undergraduate, graduate, and executive programs such as the Physicians Executive MBA (PEMBA).
Education: Ph.D. in Finance (University of Tennessee, 2011), M.B.A. (Auburn University, 2000), and B.S.B.A. in Finance, Economics, and Mathematics (Auburn University, 1999).
Research focuses on corporate finance and governance, with publications in the Journal of Financial Economics. She also emphasizes financial technology education, training over 200 students annually on Bloomberg terminals in equities, fixed income, commodities, and forex. Professional engagement includes advising the UT Investment Group and leading the 'Trade Like A Girl' initiative, alongside roles in community organizations like the Knoxville chapter of Finance Executives International and the East TN Women’s Fund.
Award-winning educator, she received the 2014 'Forty Under Forty' honor and 2017 Humanitarian of the Year award. Her outreach includes media contributions, speaking at leadership summits, and pro bono financial education for women’s groups.
