Laura Schimmöller

Laura Schimmöller is a doctoral researcher at Freie Universität Berlin and a visiting researcher in the Global Sociology department at the WZB (Wissenschaftszentrum Berlin für Sozialforschung). Her research focuses on transformative ecological practices, political ecology, and more-than-human rights frameworks. She holds master’s degrees in European Studies from KU Leuven and International Relations and Law from Hitotsubashi University.

Her work examines intersections of environmental sociology and global governance, particularly through ethnographic analysis of UN events and legal reforms in environmental policy. Recent publications explore climate change skepticism and comparative legal approaches to nature’s rights.
