Laura Schaeffer is a Researcher at the Institut Pasteur in Paris, France, affiliated with the Pasteur-Cnam-EHESP School of Public Health. She holds a Masters in Public Health from Paris XI University and specializes in epidemiology and clinical research, working in partnership with the International Network of Pasteur Institutes.
Her research focuses on infectious disease epidemiology, particularly SARS-CoV-2 transmission dynamics, hepatitis B, mpox outbreaks, and hantavirus infections. Schaeffer's work combines biostatistical analysis with public health applications, emphasizing data management and statistical methodologies for research projects.
Her recent publications demonstrate a strong focus on infectious disease epidemiology, with particular emphasis on SARS-CoV-2 variants, transmission patterns, and vaccine effectiveness. Her research also extends to hepatitis B vertical transmission, mpox outbreaks in Central Africa, and hantavirus diagnostics, showing a consistent pattern of applying statistical methods to pressing public health challenges.
Schaeffer actively contributes to training and capacity building through her teaching roles. She instructs courses on database creation and management using Access and RedCap software, as well as data analysis with Stata, demonstrating her expertise in statistical computing and database management for clinical and epidemiological research.
As part of the International Network of Pasteur Institutes, she provides data management support, participates in statistical analyses for research projects, trains partners in database development and statistics, and supervises information technology-related activities. Her work bridges technical data management with public health applications across multiple international research collaborations.
