Laura Reid is a Research Fellow and PhD Researcher at the University of Stirling, affiliated with the Improving Adult Care Together (IMPACT) and the Institute for Social Marketing and Health (ISMH). Her work focuses on advancing evidence-based practices in adult social care, leveraging co-production principles. She also explores health and wellbeing through behavioral change and public policy research.
Her research interests span child and adult health/social care, welfare rights, bereavement, domestic abuse, and social determinants of health. Methodologically, she emphasizes digital and therapeutic approaches in research, particularly with children and young people. Laura’s doctoral study examines barriers/enablers to child participation in Domestic Homicide Reviews.
She has contributed to projects like CAFADA (ESRC-funded, addressing domestic abuse impacts) and ARCH (AHRC-funded, archiving children’s residential care experiences). Previous roles include social work in statutory and third sectors, focusing on care-experienced children, and independent research consulting for The Promise Scotland.
Laura’s research themes include human rights, child welfare, domestic homicide, and human-animal interactions. She is engaged with interdisciplinary programs like Ageing and Dementia and Digital Society and Culture.
