Laura Proszak is an Assistant Professor of English and Composition Coordinator at Mercy College’s Department of Literature and Language within the School of Liberal Arts. She holds a Ph.D. in English (Rhetoric and Composition) from Northeastern University, alongside BA and MA degrees from Tulane University. Her certifications include Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TESOL), Archival Studies, and Digital Humanities.
Her research focuses on composition pedagogy, rhetorical education, embodied/material rhetorics, cultural rhetorics, and archival studies. Current projects explore rhetorical education in late 19th- and early 20th-century manual training schools in Boston and New York. She teaches first-year composition, upper-level writing courses, and graduate-level theory and practice of writing.
Her publications analyze historical educational practices and archival engagement, emphasizing material and spatial dimensions of rhetoric. She actively contributes to initiatives linking pedagogy with cultural and historical contexts.
