Laura Pigott is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Physiotherapy, Sports Rehabilitation and Chiropractic at London South Bank University (LSBU), and Course Leader for the MSc (pre-reg) Physiotherapy program. She holds an Honorary Research Position at the Queen Square Institute of Neurology, UCL. Her academic roles include Divisional Lead of Physiology, Assessments and Examinations Lead, and Dissertation Supervisor. She teaches Neuroscience, Physiology, and Pathophysiology, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches to healthcare discovery.
Her research focuses on cancer neuroimaging (e.g., glioma biomarkers, dynamic MRI techniques), neuroplasticity, and the cognitive impacts of social media on brain development. She combines artificial intelligence with neuroimaging to improve cancer diagnosis and treatment efficacy. Additional interests include gender equity in STEM, reflected in her leadership roles such as UN Women UK delegate and Topic Coordinator for Frontiers’ Women in Radiology and Neurology editorial.
Her professional activities include invited talks on neuroplasticity, brain cancer research, and the neuroscience of rehabilitation. She has contributed to global gender equality initiatives, advocating for women’s representation in radiology and neurology through editorial roles and policy advocacy.
