Laura Moreno

Dr. Laura Moreno is a recent Software Engineering PhD graduate from the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) and will join Colorado State University as an Assistant Professor in the Computer Science Department this fall. Her research focuses on automating software documentation through source code summarization, release notes generation, and method usage examples, aiming to improve developer productivity and software maintainability.

Laura’s work bridges Software Engineering with techniques from Natural Language Processing and Data Mining. Her recent publications (ICPC’13, FSE’14, ICSE’15) explore automated documentation for code artifacts, combining code analysis with repository mining. These projects emphasize practical solutions for real-world software evolution challenges.

She has actively contributed to academic events like the TEASER Doctoral Symposium and conference committees, while advising future PhD candidates to prioritize time management and engagement with departmental opportunities.
