Dr. Laura Land serves as an Associate Professor and Trauma Certificate Coordinator at Richmont Graduate University, where she is also a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Georgia, Certified Professional Counselor Supervisor (CPCS), and National Certified Counselor (NCC). With over twenty years of clinical and academic experience, she specializes in trauma recovery, addiction treatment, and counselor education.
Her educational background includes a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling and a Ph.D. in Counseling and Counselor Education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, with minors in educational research methodology and public health. This foundation supports her evidence-based practice and research contributions.
Dr. Land’s clinical approach integrates trauma-informed care with mindfulness, self-compassion, and existential inquiry, utilizing CBT, TF-CBT, DBT, and Motivational Interviewing. Her research focuses on trauma intervention systems, having contributed to NIH and Robert Wood Johnson Foundation-funded studies on PTSD treatment and alcohol screening protocols at major trauma centers.
She actively mentors counselors-in-training and LAPCs while advancing global mental health through advocacy work in South Africa and the Philippines, where she delivers trauma support for children and caregivers. Her current research examines trauma-informed supervision frameworks and culturally responsive clinical integration.
