Laura Jurgens, PhD, is a Sessional Instructor at Mount Royal University's Faculty of Humanities. She holds a PhD in Religious Studies from the University of Calgary (2019), with prior education at St. Francis Xavier University and Saint Mary's University. Her research focuses on the Protestant Reformation, Martin Luther, and women's roles in religious history. She has published a book on Martin Luther and women’s experiences and actively contributes to academic communities, serving as co-chair of the History of Christianity and North American Religions program unit in the American Academy of Religion. She teaches across multiple institutions, including Mount Royal University, the University of Calgary, and Memorial University of Newfoundland.
Research interests include early modern European religious history, gender dynamics in theology, and the intersection of lived experiences with doctrinal developments. Her work bridges historical analysis with contemporary feminist scholarship.
Professional involvement includes leadership roles in academic organizations, reflecting her commitment to advancing interdisciplinary dialogue in religious studies.
