معرفی
Laura Jaakola is a Professor of Plant Biology at the Department of Arctic and Marine Biology, UiT The Arctic University of Norway, and Head of Research at the Climate Laboratory. Her work focuses on plant metabolism, environmental stress responses, and berry crop research, particularly in Arctic and Nordic ecosystems. She investigates metabolic pathways in berries like bilberry, lingonberry, and wild blueberry, exploring how environmental factors (temperature, light, climate change) influence fruit quality, phytochemical composition, and plant defense mechanisms.
Research interests span metabolomics, flavonoid biosynthesis regulation, and the application of remote sensing in agriculture. Her studies often address practical challenges like disease control (e.g., Botrytis management) and optimizing crop resilience in changing climates. Collaborative projects include analyzing berry biodiversity in Armenia and developing functional foods from berries.
- Key areas: Berry phytochemistry, climate-plant interactions, agricultural biotechnology
- Labs: Climate Laboratory, UiT
- Expertise: Metabolomics, plant physiology, genomics
Publications emphasize Arctic plant adaptation, fruit pigmentation mechanisms, and the molecular basis of secondary metabolite production. Her work bridges fundamental plant biology with applied agronomic solutions for sustainable Nordic agriculture.
