Laura Hille

Laura Hille is Professor for the Sociology of Organisation and Economy at Leuphana University of Lüneburg, Germany. Her work spans sociology, social theory, media sociology, biopolitics, and cultural studies.

Research Interests

Professor Hille’s research focuses on the intersection of social theory and empirical social science, particularly theories of power, media sociology, and biopolitics. She examines how digital cultures, logistical infrastructures, and algorithmic governance shape contemporary subjectivities and urban spaces.

Recent publications engage with transhumanist discourses, the “post-digital” condition, and the evolving role of critique in digital societies.

Current Project

She is a key investigator in the interdisciplinary research project Automating the Logistical City: Space, Algorithm, Speculation (2021–2025), funded by the Ministry of Science and Culture of Lower Saxony, where she explores how logistical technologies reconfigure urban life and governance.
