Laura Hartmann-Wackers

Laura Hartmann-Wackers is a Research and Teaching Fellow at the Chair of Practical Philosophy, Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf (HHU). She holds a Master of Arts in Philosophy and is currently pursuing her doctorate since 2017.

• Research Focus: Privacy theories (especially in dementia contexts), American Transcendentalism, medical ethics, and virtue ethics.
• Teaching: Co-led seminars on topics like Thoreau's Walden, Mill's utilitarianism, and feminist ethics at HHU.
• Leadership: Doctoral representative at philGRAD Graduate Academy, board member of IPPA (Düsseldorf Institute for Philosophy of Public Affairs).

Her dissertation investigates privacy in dementia, addressing conceptual definitions and challenges to traditional privacy theories. She has explored historical significance of American Transcendentalism and published on posthumous privacy in social networks.
