Laura Glass Umfleet

Laura Glass Umfleet, PsyD, ABPP, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Neurology at the Medical College of Wisconsin, specializing in neuropsychology. She holds adjunct appointments in Psychology at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and leads clinical programs in adult neuropsychology. Her roles include directing neuropsychology practicum training programs and optimizing clinical workflows through technology integration.

Education: PsyD from Roosevelt University (2012), postdoctoral fellowship in neuropsychology at Medical College of Wisconsin (2014). Training includes a clinical neuropsychology internship at University of Florida (2012).

Research focuses on neuropsychological assessment of neurologic disorders, cognitive reserve, and neuroimaging correlates of dementia. Key projects include investigating cerebrovascular reactivity in mild cognitive impairment and applying graph theory to neurodegenerative subtypes. Over 40 peer-reviewed publications span neuropsychological battery design, Alzheimer’s biomarkers, and pediatric cognitive testing.

Awards include the International Neuropsychological Society Research Award (2014) and Reid Hemphill Graduate Scholar distinction (2008). Active leadership roles include serving as Communications Chair for the International Neuropsychological Society’s Dementia SIG and Chair of the WINDS Special Interest Group.

Grants total over $500K, including NIH-funded studies on GLP-1/gut microbiome interactions in Alzheimer’s and neurovascular uncoupling in aging. Collaborations include the National Neuropsychology Network and Alzheimer’s Association initiatives.

Labs/Teams: Co-developed Neurodegenerative Translational Research Program with Radiology. Active member of Center for Microbiome Research, Neuroscience Research Center, and Wisconsin Institute of Neuroscience (WINS).
