Laura Filardo-Llamas

Laura Filardo-Llamas is a Senior Lecturer in Linguistics and English Language at the Department of English Philology, Faculty of Philosophy and Letters, University of Valladolid. She has held visiting researcher positions at the University of Ulster, Lancaster University, and Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Her academic responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses (Descriptive Grammar of English, History of English, Discourse Analysis) and postgraduate modules (Internships in English Language and Culture).

Her research explores the intersection of discourse, cognition, and sociopolitical conflict through frameworks like Critical Discourse Analysis, cognitive grammar, and conceptual metaphor. Key thematic focuses include gender identity construction, socio-political polarization, multimodal communication, and conflict narratives. She directs the international Critical Approaches to Discourse Analysis Across Disciplines (CADAAD) network, fostering cross-disciplinary dialogue.

Filardo-Llamas' publications analyze discursive strategies in contexts ranging from EU crises to feminist movements, employing corpus-based, multimodal, and comparative methodologies. Her work consistently addresses power asymmetries and ideological framing in public discourse.

• Researcher in Discursive Construction of Conflict (FFI2017-85227-R, 2018–2021) and Constructivist Rhetoric and Identity Discourses (FFI2013-40934-R, 2014–2016), both funded by the Ministry of Economy.
• Principal Investigator for Transmission of Gender Stereotypes through Music and Relationship to Gender Violence (039/12, 2013–2016), funded by the Women's Institute.

She coordinates Erasmus partnerships for the English Studies program with University College Dublin, University of Lodz, and University of Warwick.
