Dr. Laura Edney is a Senior Research Fellow at Flinders University, affiliated with both the College of Education, Psychology and Social Work and the College of Medicine and Public Health. She holds dual roles as a Senior Research Fellow (Health Economics) and Full Member of Flinders Health and Medical Research Institute and the Flinders University Institute for Mental Health and Wellbeing. Her research focuses on clinical psychology, public health, and health economics, with a particular emphasis on cost-effectiveness analyses, cancer survivor care, and mental health interventions for veterans and youth.
Research interests include adaptive clinical trial designs, supportive care models for chronic illnesses, and economic evaluations of social and healthcare programs. Her work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in addressing health inequities and improving healthcare systems. Key contributions include studies on early intervention for high-risk youth, cognitive behavioral therapy protocols for eating disorders, and qualitative analyses of general practice roles in cancer survivorship care.
Dr. Edney has supervised one Honours student and contributed to an MD Advanced Studies program. She collaborates internationally and has published 31 research outputs, with notable attention to veterans' mental health and innovative trial methodologies.
