Laura Ebert serves as a Lecturer in the Department of Economics at the State University of New York at New Paltz, where she has taught since fall 2010 after prior experience in private-sector education.

Her research centers on development economics within institutional and Keynesian frameworks, specializing in commodity-dependent economies with regional expertise in Latin America. Current work investigates Chile's stalled transition from primary resource exporter to industrialized high-productivity economy, extending her earlier dissertation research on post-apartheid South African reconstruction financing.
Professional recognition includes the Schwartz Center for Economic Policy Analysis Dissertation Award (1997-1998).
