Queensland University of Technologyمعرفی
Dr. Laura Delafresnaye Broqua is a polymer chemist and Research Fellow at Queensland University of Technology (QUT), where she has been a full-time researcher within the Soft Matter Materials Laboratory (SMML) since March 2017. She also serves as Research Coordinator to the DVCRI within QUT's Division of Research and Innovation since 2019. Affiliated with the Faculty of Science, School of Chemistry & Physics, her work bridges academic research and industrial applications in polymer science and materials engineering.
Dr. Delafresnaye earned a double degree in chemical engineering and polymer chemistry in 2012, followed by a PhD in chemistry at University Claude Bernard (France) from 2013-2016. Her academic journey began during her master's thesis at the Chemistry, Catalysis, Polymers and Processes laboratory in France, where she published her first paper. Prior to her PhD, she gained industry experience with a one-year stint as a junior engineer at BlueStar Silicones' cosmetic R&D division in Spain (2010).
Her research expertise spans macromolecular design, particle synthesis, light-induced reactions, and chemiluminescence. Dr. Delafresnaye has developed materials for diverse applications including high-performance packaging blister, stormwater retention materials, and silicon-based or enzyme-based cosmetic formulations. Her work demonstrates how controlled light-matter interactions can create precision materials with specific functional properties, particularly in the areas of microsphere design and chemiluminescent systems.
Dr. Delafresnaye's publication record shows a consistent focus on polymer chemistry and materials science, with recent work emphasizing bioinspired materials, wavelength-selective reactions, and sustainable materials platforms. Her research often involves collaborations with the Barner-Kowollik research group, reflecting interdisciplinary approaches to materials design and synthesis.
- Member of Royal Australian Chemical Institute (RACI) since 2017
As Research Coordinator, Dr. Delafresnaye oversees research initiatives within QUT's Division of Research and Innovation. Her supervision work includes guiding research on polymer particles as precision sensors for molecules. She maintains active research collaborations across multiple institutions, as evidenced by her publication record spanning various high-impact journals.
Dr. Delafresnaye conducts her research within QUT's Soft Matter Materials Laboratory (SMML), a specialized facility focused on advanced polymer synthesis and characterization. Her work bridges fundamental polymer chemistry with practical applications, often translating laboratory discoveries into materials with real-world utility.
