Laura Campbell

Dr. Laura Campbell is Associate Professor in Medieval French and Italian literature at Durham University, specializing in translation and cultural mediation (13th-15th centuries). Her current research analyzes vernacular translations of the Christian creation story in French Bibles.

She examines how textual and visual representations of Adam and Eve narratives shaped medieval hierarchies of gender, class, and species. Dr. Campbell also researches Arthurian traditions, particularly Italian adaptations of Merlin legends, and has published on prophecy narratives.

Her scholarly editions include the Bristol Merlin manuscript fragment. Dr. Campbell serves as President of the British Branch of the International Arthurian Society and teaches medieval literary traditions while supervising postgraduate research.
