Laura Brown

Laura Brown is a Professor of Human Development at SUNY Oswego with expertise in lifespan development and intergenerational relationships. She served as department chair (2014-2017) and holds interdisciplinary degrees in Human Development and Family Studies. Research examines family kinkeeping, adoption attitudes, and grandparent-grandchild dynamics.

Studies investigate how familial roles evolve during crises and consensus-building, using qualitative and survey methods. Service-learning projects in gerontology connect students with community organizations to address aging-related challenges.

Publications appear in the Journal of Intergenerational Relationships and Gerontology & Geriatrics Education. Awarded the President's Award for Excellence in Advisement (2003) and the Peterson Research Award (2013).
