Laura Bakkensen is the Mikesell Professor in Environmental and Natural Resource Economics at the University of Oregon's Department of Economics. Her research focuses on the economic impacts of natural disasters, particularly tropical cyclones and floods, using applied microeconometric techniques to analyze global risk patterns and inform policy on insurance regulation, post-disaster aid, and adaptation projects.
