Laura Avanzino is an Associate Professor at the University of Genoa, affiliated with the Department of Experimental Medicine - DIMES. She serves as a member of the Department Board and the Quality Presidium, and teaches physiology-related courses across multiple degree programs including Biomedical Engineering, Medicine and Surgery, Motor Sciences, Sport and Health, Podology, and Physiotherapy.
Research Interests:
- Neurophysiology and neuroplasticity mechanisms
- Neurodegenerative diseases (e.g., alpha-synucleinopathies, dystonia)
- Neuromodulation techniques (e.g., cerebellar tDCS)
- Biomedical sensor development for gait analysis
Recent Publication Trends: Her 2024–2025 work focuses on neuroimaging biomarkers in Parkinson's disease, genetic factors in movement disorders, cerebellar contributions to temporal prediction, and machine learning applications for wearable sensor-based mobility assessment.
